Etymologie
Ampullaceus (= flaschenförmig), der Körper des Fisches kann aufgeblasen werden wie eine Sack- oder Lederflasche. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Ostatlantik: verstreute Aufzeichnungen von Grönland bis zu den Kap Verden. Auch aus dem westlichen Atlantik bekannt.
