Etymologie

Pycnos (= dick); craspedum (= Rand oder Ecke), Anspielung weder erklärt noch offensichtlich; alternative Etymologie: pycnos (= dick); crassus (= auch dick); pedus (= Fuß), bezogen auf Bauchflossen von Pycnocraspedum squamipinne, die mit dicker schuppiger Haut bedeckt sind.
