Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des Ichthyologen Akira Goto, Universität Hokkaido (Japan), der sich mit der Erforschung von Süßwasser-Groppen beschäftigt (und später mit Sideleva an der Beschreibung von Cottus kolymensis im Jahr 2012 zusammengearbeitet hat). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
