Etymologie
Die Art heißt flavioculus (lateinisch: gelbes Auge) mit Bezug auf den diagnostischen gelben Ring, der die Pupille umgibt.
Verbreitung
Pomacentrus flavioculus ist nur von Fidschi und Tonga bekannt, wo sie gewöhnlich in Tiefen von etwa 4-30 m angetroffen wird. Sie tritt sowohl an Außenriffen als auch in Lagunen auf, in der Regel neben steilen Korallenformationen mit üppigen Vorsprüngen und Überhängen.
