Typusfundort: Caño Curicurito, ca. 1 km oberhalb seine rMündung in den Río Autana, Bundesstaat Amazonas, Venezuela, 4°47'N, 67°25'W (Karte).
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Capt. Marion Eppley (1883-1960), Gründer der Eppley Foundation for Research (New York), für die finanzielle Unterstützung der Autoren, die damit 1989-1991 in Venezuela sammelten, was zur Entdeckung dieser Art führte.
Verbreitung
Venezuela und Kolumbien: Orinoko Becken, Rio Capanaparo, Rio Cinaruco. Brasilien: Rio Preto, Rio Negro-Gebiet.
