Typusfundort: Izu Oceanic Park, Jogasaki-Kaigan, Ostküste der Halbinsel Izu, westlich der Sagami Bay, 15 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Paradiseus (= Paradies), in Bezug auf die verblüffende Lebendfärbung der Männchen.
Verbreitung
Südliches Japan: sporadisch anzutreffen an den folgenden Orten: Izu-Oshima und Insel Miyake, Izu-Inseln; Tateyama Bay, östlich der Sagami Bay; Izu Oceanic Park, Ostküste der Izu-Halbinsel, Sagami Bay; Osezaki, westlich der Izu-Halbinsel, Suruga Bay; Kushimoto, Präfektur Wakayama, südliches Ende der Halbinsel Kii; Insel Kashiwa, Shikoku; Insel Mishima, Präfektur Yamaguchi; Myoken-ura, Amakusa, Präfektur Kuwamoto; Yunomoto, Insel Iki, Nagasaki; Okino-Shima-Insel, Munakata, Fukuoka und Yakataishi, Karatsu, Präfektur Saga. Die Art scheint Trümmerzonen mit ausgeprägtem Seetang- und Makroalgenwachstum in Tiefen von 4 bis 40 m als Lebensraum zu bevorzugen.
