Gefahren für diese Art: Das Gebiet, in dem diese Art vorkommt, ist von mehreren Bedrohungen betroffen, darunter Verstädterung, industrielle Entwicklungen, Bergbauaktivitäten und eingeschleppte Arten. Menon (1999) hat darauf hingewiesen, dass jede kleine Veränderung der Wasserqualität im Oberlauf des Krishna-Flusses negative Auswirkungen auf die Wasserqualität flussabwärts hat, was zum Verlust der Art führen kann.
