Typusfundort: Philippines, 14°01'N, 120°17.1'E bis 13°59.9'N, 120°17.5'E, (Karte), aus 188-195 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Eine Kombination aus den griechischen Wörtern makros (= lang, in der Originalbeschreibung in Verwendung für 'groß') und ophthalmos (= Auge).
