Etymologie
Vom neulateinischen osteus (= knöchern, von (gr.) ostéon = Knochen); glossum von glṓssa (gr.) = Zunge, in Bezug auf die gezähnte Zunge von Osteoglossum bicirrhosum, die gegen die ebenfalls gezähnten Knochen im Gaumen beißt.
