Etymologie
Latitatus (= versteckt, verborgen); bundus (=sehr, die Vergrößerung bezeichnend), bezieht sich auf den Status dieses Kieferfisches, als er erstmals als neu entdeckte Art benannt wurde.
Verbreitung
Südwestlicher Pazifik: nur aus Nord- und Ostaustralien und dem südöstlichen Neuguinea auf Schlamm- oder Sandböden in 10-90 m Tiefe bekannt.
