Etymologie
-atus (= versehen mit:) solea (= Sohle (d.h. ein Sohlenreflexionsorgan)), bezieht sich auf eine längliche, nach vorne ragende Abflachung an der Unterseite des Hinterleibs, die als Reflektor für ein Lichtorgan im Körperinneren in der Nähe des Anus dienen kann. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Weltweit in tropischen und gemäßigten Meeren; im östlichen Pazifik von San Diego (Südkalifornien, USA) nach Süden bis Chile.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 22.2.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: derzeit keine bekannt.
