Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Adolfo César de Noronha (1873-1963), dem verstorbenen Direktor des Museums von Funchal (Madeira), in dem das Typusexemplar untergebracht ist. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Nahezu weltweit (einschließlich Golf von Kalifornien/Mexiko).

Status: Stand 2.2.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Diese Art wird von der Fischerei nur selten gefangen, da er in der mesopelagischen Zone vorkommt, wo die Interaktion mit Fanggeräten begrenzt ist. Gelegentlich wird er von der Tiefseefischerei mit Leinen und Netzen gefangen, einschließlich pelagischer Kiemennetze, Ringwaden und Tiefsee-Langleinen.
