Etymologie
Glaciale (= eisig oder gefroren), bezieht sich vermutlich auf sein Vorkommen in den arktischen Gewässern Grönlands, der Typuslokalität. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Ostatlantik: Norwegen und Grönland südlich bis Marokko und von Mauretanien bis Guinea (Mauretanisches Auftriebsgebiet). Saisonal von Marokko bis Mauretanien am Rande des Kontinentalschelfs anzutreffen. Auch aus dem Mittelmeer bekannt. Westlicher Atlantik: Baffin Bay bis zum nördlichen Rand des Golfstroms. Nordwestatlantik: Kanada. Arktischer Pazifik.
