Etymologie
Etymologie nicht geklärt, möglicherweise von mónos (= gr. μόνος), und nṓtos (= gr. νῶτος), = Rücken, was sich auf das Fehlen der Fettflosse beziehen könnte, d.h. vermutlich eng verwandt mit Cheirodon (Cheirodontinae), aber mit nur einer Rückenflosse. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
