Etymologie
Benannt nach Joyce K. Allan benannt, die Whitley Illustrationen dieser Art für seine ursprüngliche Beschreibung zur Verfügung stellte.
Verbreitung
Von der Ostküste Australiens, von Süd-Queensland bis New South Wales bekannt. Erreicht seine südlichste Verbreitung an der südlichen Grenze von New South Wales. Sie kommt auch in Neukaledonien, an den Inseln Lord Howe und Norfolk vor. Jungfische und junge Erwachsene sind häufig in Felsenbecken und felsigen Ufern in Tiefen von bis zu 5 m zu sehen. Erwachsene sind häufiger in der Nähe von Felsriffen zu sehen, kommen jedoch häufig in Häfen, Uferböschungen und unter Pfeilern vor, wo sie in großen Gruppen auftreten.
