Typusfundort: Nordatlantik, 9°38'N, 26°20'W bis 9°38'N, 26°30'W [ (Karte)], Tiefe 5610-5600 Meter.

Status: Stand 26.07.2018: DD Data Deficient (ungenügende Datengrundlage)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Derzeit sind keine Bedrohungen für S. jonassoni bekannt. Es handelt sich jedoch um eine sehr tief lebende Art, von der angenommen wird, dass die anthropogenen Einflüsse derzeit minimal sind. Diese Tiefseeökosysteme sind jedoch gefährdet, sich vor allem durch Ablagerung von festen Abfällen, biologischer Ernte, Mineraliengewinnung und Klimawandel zu verschlechtern (d.h. globale und regionale Tiefseekreislaufstörungen und Nährstoffstratifikation und -isolierung in der Wassersäule), die die Biota der Tiefsee maßgeblich beeinflussen werden.
