Typusfundort: 23°N, 155°W bis 26°N, 140°W (Karte).
Etymologie
Vom Lateinischen incognitus (= unbekannt, fremd).
Verbreitung
Lampris incognitus scheint sich auf den zentralen und östlichen Nordpazifik zu beschränken. Basierend auf ~ 500 DNA-Proben kommt L. incognitus jedoch nur selten in ersterem vor.
