Etymologie
Guttatus (= gefleckt), bezieht sich auf einen großen dunklen Fleck auf dem Supraokzipital, einen dunklen Fleck direkt hinter der Kiemenöffnung, vier dunkle Flecken auf dem Rücken und (bei Jungtieren) drei Flecken entlang der Seiten. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Bolivien und Peru: Einzugsgebiete der Rios Mamoré und Pilcomayo; Argentinien: Zuflüsse des Rio Paraguay.
