Etymologie
Aequalis (= gleich); pinna (= Flosse), Anspielung nicht erklärt, bezieht sich vielleicht auf die tief eingekerbte Schwanzflosse, die in jeder Hälfte aus 12 Strahlen besteht. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Östlicher Atlantik: Senegal südlich bis Zentralangola, einschließlich São Tomé und Principe.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 6.10.2023:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Da es sich um eine Flachwasserart könnte sie durch die Entwicklung der Küstengebiete und die Verschmutzung beeinträchtigt werden. Allerdings gibt es derzeit keine Hinweise darauf, dass dies eine größere Bedrohung für sie darstellt.
