Typusfundort: Östlicher Indischer Ozean nördlich von Sumatra, 3°46'N, 96°00'E (Karte), Tiefe 800-875 Meter.

Etymologie

Ambagiosus (= rätselhaft oder zweideutig), weist auf seine unsichere Stellung innerhalb der Ordnung hin.

Verbreitung

Östlicher Indischer Ozean nördlich von Sumatra und Südchinesisches Meer bis Nordost-Taiwan, nordwestlicher Pazifischer Ozean.
