Etymologie

Himantos (= Lederriemen, Riemen oder Leine); lophus (= Kamm oder Büschel), Anspielung nicht erklärt, bezieht sich vermutlich auf das dicke, ledrige Illicium (= die Angel) von Himantolophus groenlandicus. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
