Typusfundort: Nabugabosee, östliches Afrika.
Etymologie
Von annectens (= Verknüpfung); dens (= Zähne), Anspielung nicht erklärt, vielleicht darauf bezogen, wie diese Art, basierend auf seinem Gebiss, "den Bestand darstellt, aus dem Haplochromis obliquidens und Haplochromis plagiodon vom Victoriasee, sich in verschiedene Richtungen auseinander etwickelt zu haben scheinen", womit die drei Arten verbunden sind.
