Etymologie
Wahrscheinlich benannt nach Carl Ludwig Willdenow, obwohl dies bei Risso (1810) nicht ausdrücklich angegeben ist.
Verbreitung
Mittelmeer: seit der Revision der Gattung durch Wagner et al. (2020) beschränkt auf das westliche Mittelmeerbecken mit einer östlichsten Aufzeichnung aus Messina (Sizilien).
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 1.06.2019:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Gouania willdenowi ist möglicherweise lokal gefährdet, es sind jedoch keine weit verbreiteten Bedrohungen bekannt.
