Typusfundort: Nahe der Insel Malavatuan, südliche Insel Luzon, 13°48'30"N, 120°28'40"E (Karte), Philippinen, Albatross-Station 5283, Tiefe 280 Faden.
Etymologie
Diminutiv von simus (= stupsnasig), bezieht sich auf das "mäßige" Rostrum, "das über die Kiefer hinausragt, wobei der vordere Rand nach unten gebogen ist, bis die Tentakelöffnung kaum dem Durchmesser des Auges entspricht und seine Höhe etwa die Hälfte seiner Breite beträgt". Verbreitung
Westlichen Pazifik: vor Taiwan, den Philippinen, Indonesien, und NW-Australien; bathymetrischer Bereich 430-612 m.
