Typusfundort: Östlich der Malmal Passage, Madang, Papua-Neuguinea, 05°07'S, 145°50'E (Karte), 527-539 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Die Art ist nach Dr. Sarah Samadi (MNHN) benannt, eine der wichtigsten Forscher der 2010 und 2012 vom MNHN durchgeführten Expeditionen in Papua-Neuguinea, von denen alle Typus-Exemplare stammen.
Verbreitung
Etmopterus samadiae ist bekannt vor dem nördlichen Festland von Papua-Neuguinea, vom Westen der Insel Kairiru in der Provinz Ost-Sepik bis vor Lae im Huon-Golf (Provinz Morobe) und in einer Tiefe von 340 bis 785 m.
