Etymologie

Diplo- (= zweifach); akantha (= Stachel); poma (= Deckel oder Abdeckung), bezieht sich auf zwei Stacheln auf dem Kiemendeckel von Diplacanthopoma brachysoma, von denen einer nach hinten, der andere nach unten gerichtet ist. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
