Etymologie
Profundorum (= lat. für "aus der Tiefe"), Typusexemplare wurden gesammelt in Tiefen von 717-1785 m. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Zirkumglobal, außer im östlichen Pazifik.
