Etymologie
Leptos (= dünn); oura (= Schwanz), Anspielung nicht erklärt, vielleicht auf die spitze Schwanzflosse, die so lang wie der Kopf ist, oder auf die Kombination von schlankem Körper und spitzer Schwanzflosse bezogen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Östlicher Atlantik: Senegal südlich bis Angola und Namibia, einschließlich São Tomé und Principe.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 9.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine artspezifischen Bedrohungen für Ctenogobius lepturus bekannt. In Ghana kommt es jedoch seit Jahren zu einem Verlust von Lebensräumen an der Küste. Die Anlage von Kokosnuss-, Kautschuk- und Ölpalmenplantagen hat zum Verlust natürlicher Lebensräume an der Küste geführt. Feuchtgebiete wurden für die Erschließung urbar gemacht, und die Abfallentsorgung hat zum Verlust von Lagunen und Feuchtgebieten geführt. Die Verwendung von Mangroven als Brennholz hat zu einer übermäßigen Abholzung dieser lebensraumbildenden Art geführt.
