Etymologie
Rudis (= rau), bezogen auf Schuppen "gleich rau über die gesamte Oberfläche, wobei die Stacheln ungleich groß, dicht gepackt und nicht in Reihe angeordnet sind". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Weit verbreitet in tropischen und gemäßigten Gewässern der Weltmeere in Tiefen von 980 bis 2400 m.
