Etymologie

Altus (= hoch); pinnis (= Flosse), vermutlich bezogen auf die "beträchtlich entwickelten" zweiten Rückenflossenstachel. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

Bisher nur vom Holotypus bekannt, der vor der Boso-Halbinsel in 3429 m Tiefe gesammelt wurde.
