Etymologie
Callo- (= schön); lepis (= Schuppe), bezieht sich vermutlich auf den hellen Fleck auf jeder Schuppe (außer unter dem düsteren Band am Unterkörper). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Einzugsgebiet des Amazonas (Peru und Brasilien): von den Abflüssen des Rio Ucayali und Putumayo in Peru, dem Rio Amazonas und dem Rio Madeira in Brasilien bis zur Mündung des Amazonas im Bundesstaat Para, Brasilien.
