Etymologie
Alula (= geflügelt), Anspielung nicht erklärt, bezieht sich vielleicht auf abgeflachte und erweiterte flügelartige Flossen, eine Anpassung an schnelles Wasser. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Im gesamten Einzugsgebiet des Kongo-Flusses. Im Lukuga (Tanganjika-Zufluss) bis zu den Kisimba-Kilia-Stromschnellen. Berichte über diese Art aus Inga und dem Luongo-Fluss (Sambia-Kongo) beziehen sich auf Congoglanis inga bzw. Congoglanis sagitta. Berichte aus dem Luachimo-Fluss beziehen sich auf Congoglanis howesi.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 14.3.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Obwohl es in verschiedenen Regionen seines Vorkommensgebietes einige mögliche Bedrohungen für diese Art gibt, ist sie aufgrund ihrer weiten Verbreitung nicht gefährdet.
