Typusfundort: Timor See, südlich der Leti Inseln, 9°27.0'S, 127°58.6'E - 9°28.5'S, 127°56.1'E (Karte), 610-690 m Tiefe.
Etymologie
Das spezifische Epithet okamurai wird zu Ehren von Dr. Osamu Okamura (Professor Emeritus der Kochi Universität, verstorben) benannt, der die Typus-Exemplare sammelte.
Verbreitung
Coelorinchus okamurai ist bisher nur aus dem nördlichen Teil der Timorsee, südlich der Leti Inseln, Indonesien, in einer Tiefe von 610-690 m bekannt.
