Etymologie
Leios (= glatt); acanthus (= Stachel), bezieht sich auf den glatten Brustflossenstachel. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Status: Stand 7.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Abholzung und Landumwandlung für die Plantagenwirtschaft können zwar auf lokaler oder regionaler Ebene stattfinden, es sind jedoch keine größeren Bedrohungen bekannt, die sich auf das gesamte Verbreitungsgebiet dieser Art auswirken könnten.
