Etymologie
Pectinatus (= mit Kammzähnen), bezogen auf den Winkel des Präoperkels mit ca. 6 langen Stacheln, schlank und eng angesetzt wie die Zähne eines Kammes. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westatlantik: Florida (USA) südlich bis Paraná, Brasilien, einschließlich dem Golf von Mexiko und der Karibik.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 6.06.2021:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es gibt keine wesentlichen Bedrohungen für diese Art als Ganzes. Küstenentwicklung und Verschlechterung von Küstenlebensräumen können sich auf lokale Subpopulationen auswirken.
