Etymologie
Aphya (= ein kleiner Fisch), der sich wahrscheinlich auf die geringe Größe von Aphyocypris chinensis bezieht (22 "Linien" lang = 4,66 cm); cypris (= ein kleiner Karpfen), ein übliches Anhängsel für cyprinoide Gattungen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
