Etymologie
Hige (= Japanisches Wort für Bart oder Schnurrbart) und für Mitglieder der Gattung, wahrscheinlich bezogen auf ihre Kinnbartel. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Japan und Taiwan: bekannt von den Pazifikküsten Südjapans nach Norden bis zur Izu-Halbinsel (138.96°E), dem Okinawa-Trog und dem nördlichen Südchinesischen Meer in Tiefen von 233–420 m. Im Ostchinesischen Meer verbreitet, im Pazifik vor Südjapan jedoch scheinbar selten.
