Typusfundort: Minas Gerais, Presidente Juscelino, Rio Cipó bei Fazenda Duas Barras, Brasilien, 18°41'04"S, 43°59'18"W (Karte).
Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von Charles Frederick Hartt, einem kanadisch-amerikanischen Geologen und ersten Professor für Geologie an der Cornell University. Hartt arbeitete ausgiebig in Brasilien, und einige seiner bemerkenswerten Leistungen umfassen die Veröffentlichung von "Geology and Physical Geography of Brazil" (Hartt, 1870) und die Tätigkeit als Gründer und Direktor der Sektion für Geologie am Museu Nacional of Brazil von 1866 bis 1867.
