Etymologie
Phoinikos (= tiefes Purpur oder Karminrot); pterus (= Flosse), bezieht sich auf die zinnoberroten After- und Rückenflossen und den dreieckigen zinnoberroten Fleck auf der Schwanzflosse. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Becken des Rio Marañon, Loreto, Rio Gualaquiza, Amazonas-Becken, Peru und Ecuador.
