Etymologie
Platy (= platt, flach); cephalus (= Kopf), bezieht sich auf den dorso-ventral abgeflachten Kopf, der in seiner Form dem Schnabel einer Ente ähnelt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Russland: Baikalsee.
