Typusfundort: Gölçük-See, westlich von Isparta (37°44'N, 30°30'E (Karte)), Zentral-Anatolien, Türkei.
Etymologie
Splendid (= prächtig oder schön), bezogen auf das Farbmuster balzender Männchen, ein „hübscher Fisch der ein Lieblingsobjekt für Aquarianer sein könnte“. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Türkei: Provinz Isparta, Gölçük Gölü (gilt als ausgestorben).
