Typusfundort: Southwest by west of Cape Columbine, northwestern Cape Province, South Africa, bottom depth 225 fathoms.
Etymologie
Elongatus (= länglich), bezogen auf seinen länglicheren Körper im Vergleich zu Zu cristatus. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Südost-Atlantik, westlicher Indischer Ozean, südwestlicher Pazifik.
