Etymologie

Irrtümlich benannt nach dem Staat Texas (kommt in Texas aber nicht vor; Abbott hat offenbar den Colorado River in Arizona, USA [der eigentlichen Typuslokalität] mit dem Colorado River in Texas verwechselt). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Verbreitung

USA: Früher in allen mittleren bis großen Flüssen des Colorado River Beckens von Wyoming und Colorado in den USA bis Baja California in Mexiko. Heute nur noch oberhalb des Grand Canyon und in den Seen Mead, Mohave und Havasu am unteren Colorado River in den USA bekannt.
