Etymologie

Benannt zu Ehren von Masahide Itou (manchmal auch Ito geschrieben) Kasasa Fishery Cooperative Society (Kagoshima, Japan), der fast alle Kagoshima-Exemplare dieser Art sammelte und sie den Autoren „freundlicher Weise“ zur Verfügung stellte. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
