Etymologie
Abgeleitet von héteros (gr.), was unterschiedlich bedeutet, und ourá (gr.), was Schwanz bedeutet, aber als Adjektiv behandelt wird ("geschwänzt"), was sich darauf bezieht, dass die hintere Hälfte des Schwanzes im Vergleich zu Brevitrygon walga in der Mitte deutlich dicker ist.
Verbreitung
Indo-Malaischer-Archipel, vom westlichen Nusa Tenggara, Indonesien, nördlich bis Vung Tau (Vietnam) im westlichen Pazifischen Ozean und nördlich der Insel Raya, vor Phuket (Westthailand) im östlichen Indischen Ozean; in Küstennähe vor den Küsten Indonesiens (Java, West- und Südkalimantan und Sumatra), Brunei Darussalam, Singapur, Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak und die östlichen und westlichen Küsten der Halbinsel), Thailand (östliche und westliche Küste), Vietnam und möglicherweise Kambodscha. Nicht bekannt aus Ost Kalimantan oder östlich der Wallace-Linie.
