Etymologie

Von syn- (= mit); krossos (= Fransen oder Quasten), bezieht sich wahrscheinlich auf "ein flaches Filament, das in vier Teile zerfällt" am Ende der Schnauze von Syncrossus berdmorei. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
