Etymologie
Der spezifische Name belaerius bedeutet "feiner Wind" in Bezug darauf, dass die Art während der Monsunzeit im Nordosten vorkommt.
Verbreitung
Westlicher Indischer Ozean: entlang der Ostküste Afrikas von Kenia bis nach Mosambik und Madagaskar (nach probenbasierten Aufzeichnungen) sowie im Mhlathuze Estuary, Südafrika (nach genetischen Beweisen).
