Typusfundort: Río Orinoco, bei Isla Iguana, zwischen Kilometer 152 und 153, Estado Delta Amacuro, Venezuela.
Etymologie
Benannt nach dem Orinoco-Becken von Venezuela, wo die Art im Hauptkanal der großen Flüsse lebt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Diese Art ist nur aus dem Orinoco-Einzugsgebiet bekannt, wo sie tiefe Flusskanäle bewohnt. Sie wurde am häufigsten in der Amacuro-Mündung und in den Llanos-Überschwemmungsgebieten gesammelt.
