Etymologie
Sparus, ursprüngliche Gattung der Typusart Sparisoma abildgaardi (= Sparisoma chrysopterum); soma (= Körper), Anspielung nicht erklärt, möglicherweise in Bezug auf oberflächliche Ähnlichkeit mit Meerbrassen (Spariformes: Sparidae). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
