Etymologie
Ferox (= lat. für "wild"), bezieht sich möglicherweise auf das, was Risso als "La voracité extrême" [extreme Gefräßigkeit] und/oder sein zähnefletschendes und wildes Gesicht beschreibt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Nahezu weltweit in tropischen und gemäßigten Gewässern (einschließlich Golf von Kalifornien/Mexiko, Mittelmeer).
